EPISODE 7 - MANHEIM AUCTION & BEAULIEU - NEWS, VIEWS, PICTURES & LINKS FROM THE SHOW

In this weeks show Penny and I take another trip to the auctions to see if we can find a worthy replacement for buyer Jacques much loved Volkswagen Corrado. The pressure was really on with a couple of hundred cars to check over before the sale began, find out what I turned up!

And we also revisit Beaulieu Motor Museum in Hampshire where on one of the wettest days of the year we reveal a very tempting line up of luxury cars that are within reach of many of our budgets. I personally fell for the Jaguar XJ8 whilst Penny loved the Audi, only the Lexus LS struggled but as the rain got heavier it started to look like a better place to be than under an umbrella.

You should also be pretty interested in the chap we met who reckons that you can ‘home brew’ your own fuel! Yep you can buy a kit that will produce fuel overnight. I liked the sound of it, all I need to do know is kick the rabbit and guinea pig out of the shed and I can fit in all the equipment.

Turbo chariot!

As you will probably already know one of my favourite parts of the show is the ‘Teenage Kicks’ – those cars you lusted after whilst you were growing up but couldn’t afford to insure let alone buy – well this weeks offering very nearly brought a lump to my throat. Back in the 1980’s and 1990’s turbo charged hot hatches were all I dreamt of owning so to see this Renault 5 Gordini Turbo was a real treat. The owner reckons it’s the only example in the UK that has now been fitted with power steering! Now that appeals to me, in fact anything to reduce the effects of all that torque steer has to be a good idea. I hope you enjoy seeing the car too.

And we’ve a very powerful example of Free Motoring too – I’m not saying exactly what but here are a couple of clues – four wheel drive and turbo charged engine – can you guess what it is yet?

Anyway despite the terrible weather at Beaulieu both Penny and I had a cracking couple of days filming this weeks show, I hope you enjoy it – and if you do, then let us know by emailing us and the ITV duty office – the link is on the front page of the website. Happy motoring!

Is it enough to tempt Jacques?

A rare moment of sunshine!
